The children of Yemen are in a state of emergency. Half of all Yemeni children under the age of five are acutely malnourished. According to UN agencies, the number of Yemeni children in danger of death from lack of food has increased in 2024 to 500,000. This startling number is only getting worse. Pure Hands Australia is working tirelessly to provide emergency food assistance through food baskets, fresh bread, and building charitable bakeries across the country.

It was narrated that the Prophet Muhammad pbuh said that among the best deeds is to bring happiness to a fellow believer, settle a debt for them, or feed them bread. For families who do not know where their next meal will come from, we work to make fresh whole wheat bread accessible. The bread we distribute provides key nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, phosphate, and vitamin B12 to help sustain families each day.

Nourishing souls during the blessed month
Share the Blessings of Ramadhan
Ramadan is a sacred time for Muslims worldwide, but for many displaced families in Yemen, it is a month of hunger and hardship. Pure Hands Australia responded by launching the Iftar Meals Project, which provided ready-to-eat meals to displaced families during Ramadan. These meals were essential for families who lacked cooking facilities in the displacement camps.
The Need
As Ramadhan approaches, displaced and impoverished families across Yemen face the painful reality of not being able to provide an Iftar meal for their children. With food prices soaring and access to markets severely limited, many families survive on one small meal per day — or none at all. For these families, the blessed month becomes a time of even greater hardship instead of spiritual joy.
Target Beneficiaries
117 families in Marib, Aden, Lahj, and Taiz governorates.
Impact
Each meal package included a whole grilled chicken, rice, mixed stew, yogurt, and bread, ensuring that families could break their fast with adequate nutrition. This initiative not only addressed food insecurity but also provided emotional comfort during the holy month of Ramadan.

وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ۚ وَمَا تُقَدِّمُواْ لِأَنفُسِكُم مِّنْ خَيْرٍۢ تَجِدُوهُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ
سورة البقرة، ١١٠
Zakat Al-Fitr:
The amount of Zakat Al-Fitr for each person is a sa’ (specific scale) of any kind of staple food, and a sa’ of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is four complete scoops as scooped up with two hands. In modern weights, this is equivalent to approximately three kilograms.
Zakat Al-Fitr is estimated to be $20 for each person in your household. So if there are three people in your household, you should give $60.
About This Campaign
Zakat Al-Fitr must be given on behalf of all Muslims, young and old, male and female, and It is obligatory to give it before the ‘Eid prayer, and it is not permissible to delay it until after the ‘Eid prayer.
