Feb 2025
Yemen is facing one of the gravest humanitarian crises in the world today. Many people urgently require humanitarian assistance, including 4.8 million people forced from their homes by years of conflict. Now in its second decade, the crisis has devastated Yemen’s infrastructure, leaving millions without reliable access to food, clean water, or healthcare. In 2025, an estimated 19.5 million people across Yemen need humanitarian assistance and protection services – 1.3 million people more than last year.
The scale of human suffering is immense. Yemen is one of the most water-scarce countries globally, with millions of people lacking access to safe drinking water or adequate sanitation, a reality that fuels disease, malnutrition, and preventable loss of life.

A Deepening Health Emergency
The prolonged conflict has triggered severe public health emergencies, including a widespread cholera outbreak with over one million suspected cases. Children are bearing the heaviest burden. Nearly half of all children under the age of five, approximately 2.3 million are acutely malnourished, including 0.5 million facing severe acute malnutrition, SAM, and 1.8 million with moderate acute malnutrition, MAM, alongside 1.3 million malnourished pregnant and breastfeeding women, placing them at immediate risk of illness, developmental harm, and death.

Life in Displacement
Across Yemen, displaced families live in desperate conditions often without sufficient food, clean water, shelter, or access to basic social services. For many, daily survival is an ongoing struggle, compounded by trauma, uncertainty, and the loss of livelihoods.
