The humanitarian crisis in Yemen continues to evolve, with an ever-increasing demand for support owing to ongoing conflict, displacement, and a scarcity of essential resources. The information provided reflects Pure Hands Australia’s ongoing efforts during Ramadan 2025 (March 01 – April 05, 2025).
Key Humanitarian Projects by Pure Hands Australia in Yemen
- Drinking Water Distribution
Water scarcity is one of Yemen’s most pressing challenges. With millions of people lacking access to clean drinking water, Pure Hands Australia launched a Drinking Water Distribution Project to provide safe water to (1,400 beneficiaries) in some of the most affected areas of Yemen. The project aims to reduce waterborne diseases and ensure that displaced families have access to safe and clean drinking water. Impact: Clean water distribution is crucial for preventing the spread of cholera and other waterborne diseases that disproportionately affect children. Access to safe water improves health outcomes, reduces the risk of malnutrition, and ensures that displaced families can meet their basic hydration needs.

2. Iftar Meals Project
Ramadan is a sacred time for Muslims worldwide, but for many displaced families in Yemen, it is a month of hunger and hardship. Pure Hands Australia responded by launching the Iftar Meals Project, which provided ready-to-eat meals to displaced families during Ramadan. These meals were essential for families who lacked cooking facilities in the displacement camps.
Target Beneficiaries: 117 families in Marib, Aden, Lahj, and Taiz governoratesز
Impact: Each meal package included a whole grilled chicken, rice, mixed stew, yogurt, and bread, ensuring that families could break their fast with adequate nutrition. This initiative not only addressed food insecurity but also provided emotional comfort during the holy month of Ramadan.

3. Ramadan Food Basket Distribution
In addition to providing Iftar meals, Pure Hands Australia launched the Ramadan Food Basket Project, which provided monthly food baskets to (490 individuals) in Yemen’s worst-affected regions. Each food package included staple items such as rice, flour, sugar, cooking oil, canned beans, dates, and instant noodles, ensuring that families could meet their basic dietary needs throughout the month of Ramadan. Impact: These food baskets helped alleviate hunger and malnutrition, providing families with food security to survive and thrive during Ramadan.

4. Eid Gift Project
As Eid approaches, it is a time of celebration, but for many displaced families in Yemen, the holiday brings hardship, rather than joy. Pure Hands Australia launched the Eid Gift Project to ensure that children living in displacement camps experience the happiness of receiving new clothes during the holiday. This initiative reached 52 children in Yemen, providing them with the basic clothing they needed to celebrate Eid with dignity.
Psychosocial Support: By receiving new clothes, these children experienced a renewed sense of worth, allowing them to partake in Eid celebrations with pride. Restoring Joy: Eid is a time for families to come together, and these gifts helped displaced families maintain a connection to their cultural and religious traditions, providing relief from otherwise bleak circumstances.
